AMFI requires every registered mutual fund distributor to disclose to investors the commission earned across the schemes it distributes, so that you can see whether any conflict of interest exists between what we earn and what you are being offered. We publish the position here rather than waiting to be asked.
The table below shows the broad ranges applicable to the categories we distribute. These are indicative, not fixed, and the actual rate for any given scheme is determined by its AMC.
| Product category | Indicative trail commission |
|---|---|
| Equity schemes (large, mid, small, flexi, sectoral) | 0.50% – 1.25% per annum |
| ELSS (tax-saving) schemes | 0.60% – 1.25% per annum |
| Hybrid and balanced advantage schemes | 0.40% – 1.10% per annum |
| Debt schemes (short, corporate bond, gilt) | 0.10% – 0.90% per annum |
| Liquid and overnight schemes | 0.02% – 0.20% per annum |
| Index funds and exchange traded funds | 0.05% – 0.40% per annum |
| Fixed deposits (bank and corporate) | 0.10% – 1.00% of the amount placed |
| Bonds and NCDs | As disclosed by the issuer in the offer document |
| Life insurance and mediclaim | As permitted by IRDAI regulations for the product |
Every mutual fund scheme is available in a regular plan and a direct plan. The direct plan carries a lower expense ratio because it does not include distributor commission, and it can be purchased by an investor without any distributor. We distribute regular plans. Before you invest, we will show you the current expense ratio of both plans of the scheme you are considering, so that the difference is visible to you rather than assumed.
You can obtain the precise commission position in three ways:
